Neighborhood Housing Services Programs Serve Danbury Region
David Moulton, Homeownership Coordinator at Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury (NHS), provided an update to the Danbury Housing Partnership at its July 1 meeting on services offered by his agency in the Danbury region.
Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury is a HUD approved non-profit agency with thirty years experience in helping to revitalize urban neighborhoods and implementing programs to facilitate home ownership. NHS provides counseling regarding reverse mortgages for seniors, as well as runs educational courses on financial management, purchasing a home, managing rental property and maintaining a home. NHS also provides foreclosure intervention assistance for homeowners in danger of foreclosure. While not a lender, NHS does assist people obtain down payment assistance through programs funded by the Housing Development Fund of Connecticut.
