YOUR DONATION CAN HELP ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS AND CREATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING
You can invest in the community-wide effort to implement the Ten-Year Plan To End Homelessness and create affordable housing by contributing to two funds set up to accept tax-exempt donations. The first is the Housing Heroes Fund that will provide assistance to meet the housing and supportive services needs of veterans. The second is the Danbury Housing Partnership Fund that will provide assistance to create affordable housing and support efforts to implement the Ten-Year Plan To End Homelessness. Further information on these funds as well as donation forms is provided below. You are also urged to donate to any of the agencies working as community partners to help implement the Ten-Year Plan To End Homelessness in our community.
HOUSING FOR HEROES FUND
You can donate to support Danbury's Housing For Heroes Initiative to provide a variety of housing opportunities and supportive services to veterans in our community. The "Housing For Heroes Fund" has been established to provide an avenue for private financial contributions to help fund activities to provide emergency housing, transitonal housing, permanent supportive housing, rental housing and homeownership opportunites for veterans in the greater Danbury area. The fund is administered by the Non-Profit Development Corporation of Danbury, Inc. (NPDCD), a 501(c)(3) corporation that is a key partner in the Housing For Heroes initiative. NPDCD is the lead agency in a collaborative effort to establish a transitional facility for homeless veterans known as "Vet House." Vet House conducted an official opening ceremony on December 2, 2009 and is currently open for business serving the housing and social service needs of area veterans. Other key partners in this effort include the City of Danbury, the Housing Authority of the City of Danbury, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, MCCA Inc. and the Dream Homes Community Center.
